As it is getting hotter and hotter in Dubai, splashing in the water becomes the obvious answer to surviving the heat both for residents and tourists. Some prefer to head to a beach, others enjoy water parks more. I decided it was high time to check out the Aquaventure water park at Atlantis and also try the Shark Safari that intrigued me when I saw it online.
What I liked about the park is that it has something for everyone – whether you want to relax or get an adrenaline rush, there is a slide or an experience just for you.
I personally wanted to try something more fun and thrilling so the slides that i liked were Zoomerango and Poseidon’s Revenge. I have a phobia of heights so it took all my bravery to get into the tube and do it.
I think my heart skipped a beat in the beginning when I was dropped but soon it was just seconds going on a fast slide. Doing it was simply fantastic and empowering, once it finished i felt i could do anything else.
After the high intensity slides we headed to the river rides to relax and get out breath back. I really liked the torrent and the rapids since amore and I had a double inflatable tube and we could just literally go with a flow, completely worry free. A hat and 50+ sunscreen come in handy if you don’t want to end up looking like a tomato!
After taking a quick snack we headed for the Shark Safari. Our guide briefed us on safety, explained how the helmet worked and showed photos of sharks we could expect to see.
I adore marine life, and it was amazing to see so many interesting marine animals so close and we were surrounded with different types of rays, reef sharks, white tips and even the extravagant guitar shark paid a visit! These cow nose rays were especially friendly with us.
I made a short video that you can watch that will give you abetter idea of the adventure
I think the Shark Safari is a great chance for non divers to experience what it is like to be underwater surronded with beautiful colorful fish. Kids clearly love it as it is an exciting adventure that compliments the park visit. Seasoned divers will also find it quite enternaining as you breathe freely, without biting on your regulator’s mouthpiece.
