My Internship With Atoll Scuba At Rasdhoo Island, Maldives

IMPORTANT UPDATE: ATOLL SCUBA turned out to be a very unprofessional dive centre that compromises safety and disrespects staff. Avoid at all costs.

As many of you know, I am simply crazy about Maldives! This is why my new internship with Atoll Scuba on the beautiful Rasdhoo means so much to me! Four weeks of diving and other water adventures on this green island sound like a dream to any ocean lover!

This is how i first saw the island

The whole island is rather pretty and I felt welcome from the beginning!

Atoll scuba is a dive centre that is operated by the experienced local divers. This is your place if you want to discover the best dive spots around the island and learn a bit about the Maldivian culture from the locals. What personally appealed to me is how pro environment the owner of the dive centre, Shaff is who works closely with IUCN and spends good effort promoting diving in Maldives in international media.

On my first dive trip i was taken to   the dive site that is famous for its versatile marine animals and great visibility. The first thing that rocked my world was a beautiful turtle. Finally i saw one! That was a first for me. I kept missing them on dives in UAE so was happy with the quick encounter.

Then there were loads of batfish dancing around us,

…These two were chasing me which reminded me being chased by guys on a weekend in the Dubai Mall.

Yet the absolute shocker was seeing a school of eighteen eagle rays. I love these stunning marine animals for their grace and seeing such a huge school was like a beautiful surreal dream!

then you should come to Maldives. Here seeing schools of eagle rays is very common! I am planning to organize a trip in 2016 (:

I’d love to be able to do this! Question, have you seen any noticeable effects from climate change involving the marine life? Maybe different migrational patterns, less marine life, or is everything as it was?
