PADI Women’s Dive Day

On the 21st of July the whole diving community around the world celebrates the PADI Womens Dive Day. I joined forced with Freestyle Divers in Dibba to celebrate this important date in style. As a PADI AmbassaDiver, I could not wait to meet all the ladies and share my diving journey with them during my talk.

We arrived to Fujairah the day before the event and I had time to catch up with my BFF Max and freedive in my mermaid tail 🧜🏻‍♀️

I was lucky enough to spot the local green turtles and it was even more exciting to be diving with them as a mermaid!

On Saturday we arrived to the dive centre early as we had a long day ahead. Boats were leaving to different locations like Dibba Rock and inchcape and Turk was orchestrating the trips so well. Divers were returning from the dives very happy, discussing fish they had spot underwater.

My cousin who is just 16 wanted to do a try dive in the pool and together with Marine we walked her through the basic skills in scuba diving. Watching her learn to breath underwater for the first time and gradually build confidence was very rewarding. She was a bit scared and uncomfortable at first but got used to it and enjoyed swimming around the pool with Marine.

Marco and I joined one of the boats and headed to Dibba Rock. We decided to freedive this time as it is quite shallow and we know the site quite well. As always, Dibba rock did not disappoint. Schools of colorful fish, moray eels and beautiful corals were fun to explore on a single breath.

Some divers got specially lucky as they witnesses the gentle giant- a whale shark right next to Dibba rock.

Jean Michel shared his secret of spotting marine animals- he prefers to dive with one or two other divers only in order not to intimidate the graceful “models”

At noon we gathered at the majlis for the talks and winners announcement. I shared my story of becoming a diver and then AmbassaDiver and how it helped me to become a better and more confident version of myself. I also the subject of Ocean pollution and we discussed some measures we could take as divers to reduce our footprint.

After Marine had her brief talk on why we should have more women instructors in diving, we had a raffle draw. Thanks to our generous sponsor Dusit Thani, one diver Rae Chase won a ladies lunch for two at one of the best Thai restaurants in Dubai – Benjarong.

Three other lucky winners walked away with the Hydro Flask water bottles. It was nice to see smiles on these beautiful faces and I hope they enjoy the gifts.

We took a group pic to remember the wonderful day and exchanged our contacts for future events. It was a beautiful day and I really hope I get to see my ladies diving every day of the year❤️

Happy bubbles,

Slava Noor
